Phase Control of Bipolar Thermoelectricity in Josephson Tunnel Junctions

چکیده

Not so long ago, thermoelectricity in superconductors was believed to be possible only by breaking explicitly the particle-hole (PH) symmetry. Recently, it has been theoretically predicted that a superconducting tunnel junction can develop bipolar thermoelectric phenomena presence of large thermal gradient owing nonequilibrium spontaneous PH symmetry breaking. The experimental realization Josephson engine then followed. Here, we give more extended discussion and focus on impact contribution modulating Cooper pairs' transport double-loop quantum interference device. When current prevails quasiparticle one, short circuits thereby screening effect. We demonstrate generation due pure is phase independent, once appropriately removed from net measured. At same time, investigate an additional metastable state at $V\ensuremath{\approx}0$ determined coupling, which peculiarly modifies hysteretic behavior our realized. end, also discuss how current-voltage characteristics are affected multiple elements, improve generated output power.

Superelliptic Josephson Tunnel Junctions

The most important practical characteristic of a Josephson junction is its critical current. The shape of the junction determines the specific form of the magnetic-field dependence of the its Josephson current. Here we address the magnetic diffraction patterns of specially shaped planar Josephson tunnel junctions. We focus on a wide ensemble of generalized ellipses, called superellipses, which ...

Thermoelectricity and disorder of FeCo/MgO/FeCo magnetic tunnel junctions

We compute the thermoelectric transport parameterized by the Seebeck coefficient and thermal/electric conductance of random-alloy FeCo/MgO/FeCo(001) magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) from first principles using a generalized Landauer-Büttiker formalism. The thermopower is found to be typically smaller than those of Fe/MgO/Fe(001) MTJs. The (magneto-)Seebeck effect is sensitive to the details of ...
